Months after welcoming our beautiful son, life is

Months after welcoming our beautiful son, life is in transition once again. We said goodbye to my sweet dad following a battle with leukemia. I am forever grateful for how well he lived and loved. He was a gentleman in the true sense of the word. Kind, practical, level-headed, with a quiet reserve that belied a dry wit and penchant for telling a great - if ever-so-slightly exaggerated - story. He took such care of my mom, sister, and me, whether that was showing up for countless ballet recitals, listening to Avril Lavigne and Shania Twain on repeat during road trips, or vacuuming out my car while checking the tire pressure. He practiced general surgery and I was proud when members of our community would thank him for his caring and calm approach. He appreciated life, from a perfectly-brewed cup of coffee to time spent outdoors - he often commented on the sunset and clouds on our jogs together around Brown Bark Park. He and my mom celebrated 40 years of marriage in September and demonstrated kindness and respect toward one another, always. He approached his diagnosis with grace and faith, continuing to model gratitude. He will be incredibly missed.
