Celebrating Women in the Arts

March is Women’s History Month and I’ve been fortunate enough to participate in events supporting and celebrating female artists. On March 5, I had a great time exhibiting as part of Fiverr’s Celebration of Women: Artists & Entrepreneurs in New York City, which brought together “some of today’s most innovative artists and entrepreneurs who are working their creative powers and owning it!”

My piece, “All That Hangs in the Balance” was featured in a silent auction and sold to a private collector, the proceeds benefiting Girls Who Code. As a digital designer by day, I so appreciate the value of organizations like Girls Who Code that empower young women to succeed in tech and appreciate Fiverr for putting together this event.

Art Soiree’s Women in Arts Exhibit

Back in DC, I’ll have several paintings on display at Art Soiree’s Women in Arts exhibit on Friday, March 18, an “inspiring experience of art as we showcase and honor mixed-media artworks by amazing local female artists in a multi-artist exhibit. It is art by women, and art for all. Explore the original works, meet the multi-talented artists behind them, and enjoy a beautiful evening in the company of art lovers.”

About my body of work on display:

Engaging with and questioning her conservative upbringing in North Carolina, Emily explores the cultural archetypes that have shaped her perception of relationships, gender roles, and sexuality through her surreal paintings. Her complex compositions depict characters that seek connection and a sense of belonging as they navigate shifting landscapes.

100% of proceeds from the sale of art benefit artists directly.

When: Friday, March 18 | 8pm-12am

Where: The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown, Washington, D.C. – 3100 South Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20007 – View Map
